Old, Old, Old School Sticker Art

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

I can’t imagine how this could interest anyone apart for myself and maybe my Mum but I thought I’d share anyhow.

Here in the UK it’s the school summer holidays so I quite often have a little company when I’m working.

My five year old son Reef who tells me he wants to design stuff like his Dad likes to sit and draw on the desk beside my own. He loves to use my old elipse and circle guides that I got when I first went to collage at the age of eighteen.

Back then it was pre Mac so we used these things quite a lot and before we started college we had to label all of our kit with our names.

Being into the graff scene at the time I chose to make my labels like the sticker tags that I used to grace the center of Sheffield with. On taking a closer look I saw that on my Linex elipse guide one of the fellas had survived to this day.

This sticker must be about twenty one years old now and considering the amount of use the guide had it’s survived the rigors of time pretty well.

I so remember labeling all of my kit at the time as Linex elipse guides when new had a really strong smell of baby sick.

I’m glad to say that this has now faded, although my memory of it hasn’t.

Just a reminder that today is Blog Action Day.

Something worth chirping about.

New Identities section added to my portfolio

Friday, August 15th, 2008

I’ve added a new section to my portfolio called “Identities” where I’ve started to show some of the logos I’ve made for different projects.

Above are some that I did for a social networking application for the lovely people at Renkoo who are based in sunny California.

Another couple of nice surprises

I’ve recently installed Google Analytics on my site which is a revolution for people with sites made in Flash as for the first time it allows me to get detailed stat’s about visits to my site.

Enjoying the novelty of checking the referrals I spotted a couple that I had to take a look at.

The first one was a list of “101 Inspirational Artist/Designers Links” and on reading down the list There I was at number 77 amongst some very good company. How very nice of them.

The other was from a fantastic urban/designer toy site called Archetoy who gave a link to the interview I did over on DesignFeedr and had some very nice things to say about me here.

This is a real gem of a site if you’re into designer vinyl and on thanking these guys I got to find out that there may be some interviews on the horizon with some of the real big name toy designers.

Whilst you wait for those you could always spend the chunk of a day reading through all the articles like I did.

Thanks Chaps:)
